We seek to develop an Arabic-language catalogue open to difficult questions, competing ideas, and critical perspectives on history, politics, religion, and society. Intellectual value and careful editing guide our selections, with particular attention to translated works.
We understand secularism as a civic framework protecting freedom of belief and non-belief, pluralism, and equality before the law. A healthy public culture requires access to different perspectives, including those with which we may disagree.
Every book calls for thoughtful sourcing, the necessary rights, accurate translation, editing, proofreading, and visual production. We aim to strengthen these practices in the service of readers and the rights of authors and translators.
